No Dates For Now...

About the dates...I will no longer be giving updates on the 12 pre-paid dates. I had all the plans in writing and ready to go, but unfortunately the future is uncertain on many things for me at the moment. I will just have to go day by day and no planning ahead unless its a celebration of some sort.

Today, was my day off and I finally finished reading: On Mystic Lake and I must say I'm not a fan of the ending. Same as in movies, I don't like investing so much time just for the ending to be a bad one or its a leave it to my imagination kind! I want to know what happened so tell me, tell me! just a few more pages!

Anyway I'm over that book, it looks like Firefly Lane is still my favorite book. I LOVE IT!!! Those are the only 2 books by Kristin Hannah that I've read and I think I want to leave it like that. I'll move on to other Authors. I've bought soooo many books and I stopped reading for a long time so I need to go back to that since I enjoy it so much. I'm not even sure why I stopped and same goes for cooking. I don't know how to cook, but I loooove recipes! Yesterday, I made tofu with corn syrup and other ingredients and it was so yummy because it gets caramelized and it's tasty. I even made a couple of rice balls with diced tofu in it. Today, I made potato pancakes with a recipe I found for left over mashed potatoes. So for dinner we had chicken, potato pancakes, green beans cooked in a bit of butter and rice. yum yum. I love that cooking doesn't have to be so complicated. I like easy vegetarian recipes or recipes that can be made with already cooked chicken. Like when I make green enchiladas and I buy the chicken already made. Simple & delicious.

Witch Hat & Day of the Dead Laser Cut Skull Project...

I painted and decorated a papermache hat. I wanted to add strips of newspaper but I didn't find any so I cut strips of the L.A. Weekly and mod podge them to the hat, then inked them a bit.

The wood skull is from a craft store (top right). I painted it white first and when it was dry, I painted the rest with the new Neon Sharpies and stickled it a bit (bottom left). The colors are really nice and they look really bright in the black light as you can see in the picture (bottom right).

Fried Chicken & Black Russian! Mmmm...

OMG!!! Let me tell you about MP's Soul Food Eatery located in North Hollywood. I was craving something comforting so I looked online to see if I could find local soul food and Im soooo glad I found this place. Here's what I tried so far:

Fried Chicken- it was so crispy without being greasy and disgusting. It also didn't have a pepper taste over powering it. It was pure goodness.

Black Russian Cake- I was sitting there minding my own business when the chef came over and asked me if I had ever had a Black Russian and I said no I havent and he said "how can you say you've never had one with a straight face?" and he left. Oops! I dunno =/  Then he came back with a small, right out of the oven, warm slice so I can try it. Whoooooaaa!!! So strong with vodka and kahlua. It was REALLY good. I don't think I can handle a normal size slice of it or I'd end up hasta las chanclas, drunk as can be.

I can't wait for my grandma to try it! Definitely, worth trying. Try it, try it...yum yum.

Mac n Cheese & Potato Salad were my sides and they were really good too. Mac n cheese was creamy and the potato salad also didn't have tons of pepper as others do.

Banana Pudding Pie...a bit sweet, but really good.

Cornbread Muffins- I don't do corn breads and stuff, but I tried theirs and they were good so I ate one with butter.

The service was great and everyone there was very friendly so I'm definitely going back for more fried chicken! woop. woop!

I love this place. As soon as you go in, it feels like you're going into someone's kitchen and there's all kinds of nice people cooking for you.

The downside... it's so tiny! Definitely, a good idea to make reservations. It was fun and I can't wait to go back.

Oh! and they serve your drinks in little mason jars and they serve Kool-aid!!!! Whaaaaat?!?!?!?!
Miss Peaches, you sure know how to be "Kool"!
