The art of letting go...

I'm not a big fan of Mariah Carey except for the song "All I Want For Christmas Is You", but sadly I'm not feeling it this year... instead, I can't get enough of her song "The Art of Letting Go".

Good-bye 2013...time to let go and make room for better things in 2014.

How do you mend a broken heart...

The questions are:

What do you do when the person you thought you'd be spending the rest of your life with, betrays you after many years? Especially, when you needed them the most and it was beyond clear to them.

How do you forget them?

What do you do with all those life time memories and pictures that take you back to all the good times you had, yet pictures are also what revealed the betrayal and you can see THEIR good times aswell? Or atleast, a few of them and you can't imagine how many more good times there were behind your back. I guess, it doesn't matter, even one time is enough since they robbed you of the time and those memories that could've been yours together.

Tough questions and I hope to soon find out the answers as time goes by, but for now, I'm completely shocked that if love was so grand as it supposedly was then why did this happen? why when I was at my worse, they were enjoying life together as if I didn't exist? As if I never existed. I will never know since no truth comes out of that mouth and really, nothing said can make a difference of the wrong that was done and the pain that was caused.

It is what it is, their life goes on together and as for me...
...
and so on and so on, until there's no longer an effort to try to be strong and those horrible memories will be just THAT, stupid memories of someone that took me for granted and didn't know how to RESPECT what we had.

Grinchmas Theme Party Ideas

Grinchmas party themed ideas...

Hats for your guests
Made this hat out of icing tub lid, pipe cleaners, cotton ball, ribbon and hot glue.

I printed big and small pictures of the grinch, max and some of the other characters and hung some on the tree as ornaments, others on the walls as decoration. The glass ornament has green feathers and green glitter inside of it and a fabric grinch photo on it with a metal heart.

Covered a birthday hat with red ribbon that feels like plastic, made a border with glittered tulle, a pom pom on top and a bottle cap with the grinch's picture, silver garland leaves and a light green feather.

Chocolate trees made with a tree mold, chocolate tinted in different colors and a little gold luster.

I got the idea of the grinch pill from the internet and I got inspired to make one from max too. Actually from his groomer! On a website, I found brown cotton candy that tastes like cherry, but it looks like fur and it's called Werewolf hair or something like that, so I packaged it as you see above.

These I made just because it went with the christmas theme even though it has nothing to do with the Grinch.

Grinch, Max and Christmas cake pops.

I tried to do a grinch on my nail with a toothpick and the colors I already had at home. Also, made Grinch hairclips.
For picture background, I covered a book case with a black plastic tablecloth and drew added rectangles of red posterboard to resemble bricks and traced them in white acrylic paint. In the center I drew a fire with a few "wood logs" made of paper towel rolls painted in brown and black. It was for one night only so I used what I already had in hand, but about 3-4 days later, I had to clean it up because the paint started peeling off. The quote above the "chimney" read:
"MAYBE CHRISTMAS HE THOUGHT, DOESN'T COME FROM THE STORE. MAYBE CHRISTMAS ...PERHAPS...MEANS A LITTLE BIT MORE!"

My Christmas tree was really small. It was white, I added white lights to it and made glittered red, green & silver ornaments. Also, a clear ornament filled with green glitter and light green feathers and on the outside, the Grinch's face and red heart.

Marshmallow Flower on cupcake

I mixed blue and purple sugar, but ofcourse it can be made in different colors and with as many marshmallows as you like. They look nice in red for christmas and you can add a few green marshmallows at the bottom to look like the flower's leaves.

Love my apple!

It was really good. The apple was crisp and covered in soft caramel, not the really hard to chew kind. Thank you soooo much brother!

Day of the Dead at Hollywood Forever Cemetery

I LOVE this event and I look forward to it every year. There are some reeeeally talented people there and they show it with their paintings, sculptures, hairclips, tshirts, altars and many other things that you'll find there.

I made 3 hairclips with roses and added them to my hair. Ofcourse I had to add a little skull to atleast one of them and then I added my Grandmother's pearl necklace too.

Black, white & pink face paint.
Pink shimmery nails with a sugar skull ring finger on the left and a cross with flowers on the right ring finger.

My Skeleton Jacket & the map for the event
Some of the altars are simple and even hard to see at night because they only have a few candles lighting them up. Others are way out there with paper mache statues, black lights and all sorts of stuff, but big or small, they are all created with lots of love, for very special people that are no longer with us. This year I even noticed they had a couple in honor of their dogs and THAT is soooo nice because some of us love our doggies so much.

Look y'all! It's sweet little TOTO!!!! Aaaaw...Toto.

I love this one because most grandmas are the best and they do represent family. My grandmother helped my mom raise me since I was a few months old so I will forever be grateful to her. She means the world to me. She's also the glue of our family because sadly but true, we probably wouldn't even get together during the holidays if she wasn't with us. Everyone and their immediate families would probably just make their own plans for birthdays and holidays so thank God Gramy is still around to bring us together atleast twice a year.

Day of the Dead & Black Roses

Day of the Dead paper mache boxes, chocolates and cake pops.

I made a dozen black roses with red glitter per box and tied a bow on them. The chocolate molds and the boxes can be used for day of the dead, Valentine's day, mother's day, birthdays or any other occasion.

It's Movember Party Time!

Mustaches, mustaches and more mustaches!

I had a Mustache theme party, but it wasn't because of Movember, I  actually had it at the beginning of the year to celebrate my mother's birthday.

IDEAS FOR A MUSTACHE THEMED PARTY

I added little foam mustaches to these visors so people can wear them during a game we played.

I saw this water idea on the internet so I added a "wet your whiskers" label to it. Under the label, I used tape with mustaches on it and I used that same tape on the forks, spoons, knives and a clean icing tub to put them in.

The napkins were folded into little bow ties and held together with a little light blue strip of paper.

This mustache frame wasn't for the party. I made it for a different occasion, but it's an idea for mustache lovers, movember party pictures, or anything else. I used mod podge to glue and seal the scrapbook page on a wooden frame.

This is actually a banner I made for the party. It had 5 quares. The 1st one said Thank You and the other 3 spelled out M-O-M and the 5th square had the pinwheel, 3 rhinestones and a stick on mustache as shown on the picture.

I cut out circles in bright colors, stamped mustaches to some of them and glued them to curling ribbon and this was used to decorate the photo booth. I also punched out 1 inch circles, stamped mustaches on them and scattered them on a table that was covered in a black tablecloth and it gave it a really cool pop of color.

This I hung on the wall for the photo booth background. I made it out of cardstock, posterboard, colorful tissue paper and lots of black glitter for a glittery mustache! Glitter makes everything better!

I bought a bunch of mustaches in different colors and sizes and I put one in each plastic egg for my guests. I didn't want them to see what mustache they were getting and it was soooo funny because some people got gray mustaches, or little pieces even orange ones.  I also had funny glasses and a bunch of foam props that I glued wooden sticks to so they can be used in the photo booth.

Eyes on Forks!

These eyes are made of crushed oreo cookies.
Originally, I wanted to make them or regular sized forks, but I couldn't find any so I made them with small appetizer forks. The forks are small and cute!

My first time making eyeballs, but I hope you guys like them anyway =)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Queen Mary-Dark Harbor...

OMG!!! The Queen Mary was sooooo much fun. They've added so many new things to see and it looked like a big creepy carnival! Their creativity is amazing and so is all the make up and costumes. It's was the best year at the Queen Mary I must say. I had already given up on it because it just wasn't fun anymore because every year it felt like the same thing to me, but this year...WOW! I can't wait for next year!

Look at how small the 16 oz. water bottle looks near the corn dogs.

They had huuuuge corn dogs, hot dogs, pizza slices, burgers, kabobs, garlic fries, and sooo many other things to choose from. I had tacos and everything I tried was really good. So exciting! They had so much carnival yummy food.

Halloween Wood Frame & Barrette

A few years ago, I saw these napkins at the store and I really liked them so I bought them, but I wasn't sure what to do with them. All I knew was that I didn't want to use them as napkins so I got the idea of using them on a wooden frame. I wasn't sure if it was going to work, but I went for it anyway.

Here is the frame. Next time, I will add flowers and more stuff, but this one I wanted it to be simple because I put rhinestones on it and painted it with black shimmering paint.

Hair barrette was plain white, but I painted it black, added glitter, the Jack Skellington face, red little hearts and black swirls with 3D paint.

Fright Night Movies...

Sunday: "From Hell"- I didn't love it, but I liked it. =) =(
Monday: "Red Riding Hood" - I love it. =) =)
Tuesday: "Beneath" - This movie was so good and interesting, but they killed it with the ending! ugh! noooo!!!! why?!?! >=[ =)  (mad face & happy face for this one)
Wednesday: "The Dark" - ok, but this ending was worse than any movie I've watched in 2months! Then, it had an alternate ending and ofcourse it was a stupid one too! ugh! >=[ =(
Thursday: "Silent Hill" - I really like this movie. Sad for some of the characters because I liked them&they didn't make it, but I like the movie overall. Not really scary to me, but interesting looking monsters. =) =)
Friday: "Carrie" (The remake)- A bit too dramatic so it was only ok for me, but I did like the teacher twist on the new one. Chloe made a crazy looking Carrie when she had the blood all over and was after some revenge...um, I wouldn't want to piss her off! But she also seemed so sweet and innocent and so sad to see her bullied like that. Anyway, I didn't love the movie, but Chloe Moretz and Judy Greer still rock!=( =)
Saturday: "Carrie" (Original) =( =)

Brother's Bday Fun...

Ok so I missed the screening at the park of Ghostbusters and the ectomobiles BUT I went to the California Science Center and the Natural History Museum! How fun is that?! Helloooo?! Alot of fun! They were playing different 3D films and we got tickets to the Butterflies movie and when they say 3D, they mean 3D! The butterflies looked like they were right infront of my face and if I looked at the row in front of me, it looked like the butterflies were going inside some old little guy's ear! Then, they'd coming out of the other ear (according to my brother). silly. It looked so nice and it's interesting how the monarch butterflies migrate from Canada to Mexico. Please don't capture the butterflies people! just let them be and fly to their destination...it's like a huuuuge butterfly family reunion. It's amazing! Beautiful.

Anyway, so we looked and played with stuff in both museums and even took pictures with the Endeavour space shuttle. Then, we headed over to a place called: Mercado La Paloma and had some really good food! like REEEEALLY good food! We weren't even done eating and we were already planning to go back with more people so they can also try all the yummy food.

Most of the foods had names that we can't even pronounce so I will just say what they are instead of the name they had on the menu...

My brother ordered a pork plate

My mom ordered, a chicken plate. It was covered in a really good sauce, but can't even guess what the ingredients in it were. I just know it was really good.

For me the best part is that none of their plates are spicy, but they do give you an habanero and habanero sauce on the side. My brother couldn't get enough of that sauce even though it was really spicy. He just had to bring some of it home so he bought a bottle of it...

Ooooh! and he ordered this green swamp juice looking thing. He liked it, but I didn't. It tasted like someone blended grass and water....eeew! The flan he ordered after the dinner was sweet and creamy, really good.
I ordered dessert from a place across (its like a food court so alot of places to eat). I got an ice cream called "Beso de Angel". I just had to order it after reading the name. I pictured it white with coconut flakes and some glitter like a beautiful Angel, but that wasn't the case. haha. It had walnuts, carrots, mamey and I forgot what else. It wasn't creamy and I can mainly taste mamey and carrots. Interesting flavor, but I liked it and would order it again. On their menu, they had "Roses" ice cream! don't think I'd try that one. I imagine it tasting like perfume. No thanks! definitely, not curious to try it.

We all had a good time and it was nice to spend time together...love you guys. Happy Birthday Brother!
